Emotion Regulation and Socialization

Building upon work my colleagues and I have done on the role of emotion regulation as a predictor--as well as an outcome--of social behaviors, such as prosocial behaviors and antisocial behaviors, I continue to examine individual differences in early emotion regulation competence, as well as strategies for coping with emotions. In examining emotion regulation development, I also explore the roles of parental discipline and emotion socialization practices on young children's social-emotional outcomes across different cultures and contexts.
